History
The San Diego Zoo is run by the Zoological Society of San Diego, a not-for-profit organization that also operates the Wild Animal Park and the department of Conservation and Research for Endangered Species (CRES).
Location, Directions & Parking
The zoo occupies 100 acres in the east half of Balboa Park. It's accessible from Interstate 5 and Highway 163.
Directions from the North:
Take I-5 south and exit Pershing Drive. Follow the signs.
Directions from Downtown
Take Park Boulevard north into Balboa Park. Turn left at Zoo Place.
Directions from the East:
Take I-8 to Hwy 163 and exit Park Boulevard. Take Park Boulevard north and turn left at Zoo Place.
